Allumee and its 500-drone show for the National Day celebration in Tours
No fireworks this year. To celebrate July 14, 2024, the city of Tours, in partnership with La Riche, has chosen—for the second year in a row—to present a drone light show. This event not only left a lasting impression with its beauty but also demonstrated a deep respect for the environment.
A safe and eco-friendly alternative
Unlike fireworks, which are often associated with the risk of accidents and noise pollution, the drone show we put on offers a safe, high-tech solution. Under the direction of Edouard Ferrari, the company’s founder, 500 drones took to the skies to light up the sky over Tours at the Prairie de la Gloriette. This show, “L’éveil de la lumière” (The Awakening of Light), accompanied by scenes created specifically for the event, left the audience spellbound for 14 minutes left spectators in awe of this aerial ballet—a true spectacle of light and music.
One of the main reasons to choose a drone light show for the national holiday—aside from its originality—is its commitment to the environment it embodies. Fireworks, while majestic and spectacular, generate significant air and noise pollution, disturbing local wildlife. In Tours, this consideration is paramount. The city therefore opted for a more environmentally friendly alternative. Their primary goal was to protect the birds, whose hearing is extremely sensitive, from the equally extreme intensity of the noise and light produced by fireworks.
Allumee’s drones, on the other hand, fly more quietly and do not emit harmful emissions, thereby reducing the event’s environmental footprint. A breathtaking and innovative show
The show drew more than 15,000 people, some of whom were curious to discover it for the first time, while others were once again amazed by so much magic . Many highlighted the technological innovation and the precision of the aerial choreography. Just as a magician pulls a flower from his black hat with a wave of his wand, our drones flit about like butterflies, tracing arabesques that lit up the dark night. A “wow!” effect guaranteed. While some of the iconic buildings that make the city famous were featured, the symbols of the day—Marianne and the tricolor cockade—were not forgotten.
